Trousdale Genealogy

Descendants of John Trousdale born 1704

The database has many more Trousdale's. In June of 1997 the report was expanded to include those who are my childrens Grandparents, Grand Uncles & Aunts and 1st cousins. Much of it comes from the work of General Karl Truesdell(1882-1955) and James B. Trousdale (1900-1990). Additional information has come from WEB sources, internet cousins and other sources.

If You are a Trousdale, we are most likely related. So please drop me a e-mail.

In the preface of General Karl Truesdell's work he writes:

" Certain general comments regarding this outstanding family are appropriate. The origin of the Trousdale family is English, specifically Anglo-Saxon with a recorded history beginning at the opening of the 14th Century. The demobilized Cromwellian soldier from Lincolnshire and his settlement in northern Ireland conforms to the tradition. His descendants may have married natives of Ireland or into Scotch families which overran that part of Ireland after its conquest. All were dissenters, non-conformists - anti-Anglican; later Presbyterian. Initially, for parliament and against the Stuarts, the descendants became Orangeman or Williamites. With such a background the immigrant family was politically well-prepared to become pioneers in the American way of life and to espouse the cause of the Revolution as patriots. In this connection it is important to know that not only did John Trousdale, the elder, render aid and assistance in the War, but similarly all of his sons have recorded service in that war. Consequently, all proven blood descendants in this text, if otherwise acceptable, are eligible to membership in the SAR or the DAR."

Trousdale is the 21,835th most popular last name (surname) in the United States
