4 David BROWN* b: 17 March 1694/95 Southold, NY d: Abt 03 January 1757 Note:David Brown we find was born 3 17 1695, and the daughter Mary's probably birth is in keeping with David Luse's estimated birth, but more likely as a second wife. Reuben was naturally named an executor for his father, as David, Walter and Obadiah were the three Browns who were is Chester, New Jersey. We have noticed that these three brothers adjoin David Luse, and work together with David Luse in purchasing the property from John Shinn, and in moving to Chester. We do not find any of the Luse and Brown children intermarring, which is a fair sign that the Luse children and the Brown children were 1st cousins. When Captain Walter Brown moved to Union Brick near Blairstown, two of the Luse children followed and bought adjoining farms, and again no intermarrying. Our conclusion is, both as to the Brown family as well as the Luse, that Mrs Mary Luse and David, Walter and Obadiah Brown who are known to be in Chester, are all members of the family of David Brown of Southold, although this outline of the Browns is not in accordance with previous publications. The Browns would trace back to Willian Brown born 1659: to Lieut Richard Brown and Hannah King: to William Kinge and Dorothy Hayne of Salem, MA and who were married in Sherborne, Dorsetshire, ENG Feb 17, 1617.
