Christianity

C. S. Lewis once wrote, "I believe in Christianity for the same reason I believe the sun has risen in the morning; not just because I see it, but I see by it." One of the reasons why I believe in Christianity is that everything I believe to be sane, healthy, good, and loving, can be found in God and through Christ.

What's unique about Christianity, is that while it has a set of beliefs and a moral code, at the center of it is a person: Jesus Christ. It is because of Christ's work that we can have salvation. Rather than just being a stale code of dogma, through Christ we can have life. This is beyond the physical life that all humans have, rather it's spiritual life that continues when this life ends.

It's rooted in love. God loves us. To show that love, He came and dwelled among us and tried to show us the love He had for us and the life He wanted to give us. We returned the favor by nailing Him to a cross. Rather than defeat His love, Christ overcame death itself and rose from the dead. Through Christ's death and resurrection all the wrong we've done in our life can be forgiven.

Freed in this manner, we can live by grace, not by the law. We all know the law: eye for eye, and tooth for tooth. But just as we have been forgiven, so we must forgive others who've done us wrong. It's a principle of grace: you can't "bottle" grace. You must let it flow. Freely, freely you have received; freely, freely give. Then we truly start to love one another.

My plan for this page is to provide links to resources about C. S. Lewis and my church. For now all I have is some pictures of my church and church web page links.

Our minister before Rev. Jonathan Riches was Rev. Mark Rudolph. He is working with the Reformed Episcopal church in Germany. You can read more about his current work at his web page.

Wonder what the Reformed Epsicopal church stands for? Come out to church and find out. If you want to know more now, visit the denonminations web page.
