The Music-In-Print Series
Now owned and operated by emusicquest
In 1973, when Musicdata began its operations, its goals were to locate and catalog all printed music published world-wide and to provide a means of keeping this information up to date.
These goals have not changed.
Over 900 international publishers supply Musicdata with their current catalogs and listings of music for sale or rent. The 33-volume series totals over 12,000 pages and over 360,000 separate entries. Entries contain the title, composer, arranger, instrumentation, publisher, publisher's catalog number, and other information such as duration and language as provided in the publisher's catalog. Entries are cross-referenced by title, composer, and arranger.
Each volume contains a Guide to Use, a List of Abbreviations and a current Publisher Directory. In addition to the base volumes and supplements, Musicdata publishes Master Indexes that direct the user to the correct volume of the Music-In-Print series in which a certain entry can be found. These indexes are useful if you own or use the Music-In-Print series.
The Music-In-Print series currently include listings for the following genres:
- sacred choral
- secular choral
- organ
- classical vocal
- orchestral
- string
- classical guitar

The Classical Guitar Music In Print Series
The Classical Guitar Music In Print volumes contain the most complete and thorough listings of published guitar music throughout the world. These volumes are an indispensable reference guide to music for classical guitar. Performers, teachers, students, musicologists, music dealers, and librarians will benefit from their use.
Listings include composer (and dates, if known), title and publisher. A listing may also include duration, special playing/tuning instructions, and as much additional information as is available. Names of arrangers are given to assist in locating a particular edition. A notable feature of the Classical Guitar Music In Print volumes is the inclusion of a graded scale of difficulty level, handy for guitarists searching for appropriate recital music or teachers who recommend music for students. Not only is this a great guide for solo or duo guitar music, but it is also a tremendous resource for chamber music and school ensembles/orchestras.
Each book is divided up into chapters that are arranged chronologically, listing works of the same historical era in one place. This arrangement facilitates the location of specific musical styles or genres. Browsing the guitar repertoire for new or unfamiliar music is especially exciting. Both of the Classical Guitar volumes contain additional sections for solo repertoire in specialized categories: Sonatas and Sonatinas, Studies, Methods, and Folk Music.
Each volume contains a Composer/Title Index, which refers the user to the chapter and section of the book where full information may be found. All composers and titles included in the book can be found within this index, thus providing a complete list of a composer's works at a glance.
A Publisher Directory is included in each volume, providing full names and addresses of over 900 international publishers.
