Fragments of a Life and Pieces of  Time

Poetry and prose, meditations and random thoughts by Jonas R. Mather

This publication is an advertisement, not for my self but for the ideas contained herein, a summary, if you will, of whatever wisdom I have attained in seven decades on this planet. The content is available -- although my ego would deem it priceless -- by item, part or full book. In short, I am looking for wider distribution and will entertain suggestions, comment or inquiries.by  E-mail.

MEDITATIONS: If you are uncomfortable with inconsistency, contradiction  and paradox, read no further. This world, to paraphrase J.B.S.Haldane, is queerer than we think. Mass perception seems to determine mass reality. As the world thinketh in its heart, so it is. Alter perception in the universal consciousness and change material reality. These verses in Eastern fashion touch upon these "truths" as I perceive them. One can know the infinite in reflections of, and on, its light.

SEASONS: The seasons reflect the pattern of the universe and the presence that undergirds, indeed is, the All. One must look to see, listen to hear, open to understand. In the silence of the meadow, in the dancing of trees, in the clatter of freshet on stones the presence magnifies into a sense of shared being, oneness with divinity, an experiential, definitely not intellectual, matter. "Seasons" attempts entry to this reality.

OF LIFE AND LOVE: Experience, personal or vicarious, is a measure of life, qualitative, not quantitative. Action as a doing is a primary constituent of experience. Reflection is a means of giving meaning. These thoughts are mine although in many cases the background is orchestrated by other Many are songs in a sense, songs of hope, of fear, of love -- intangibles of mind in relation to being. I'm being too metaphysical here. "Poetry was meant to be sung," said an early mentor. Hear here and now.
