Short articles (and some not so short!) on miscellaneous topics, but all related to the apocalyptic theme of my pages.
The Last Days
This study picks up the phrase "the last day" wherever it is found in the O. T. (excluding Daniel), in order to examine and to determine what the phrase refers to, after all.
Last
Days
This study continues the study of the phrase "the last day"
in the places where it is found in the N. T., in the same manner as the
O.T. study. Be assured, "the end" was known from "the beginning!"
The
Appearance of Elijah
Will Elijah appear, like John the Baptist did, "in the wilderness?"
New
Jerusalem
A discussion of how the "new" Jerusalem shall appear
during the millennial rule of the kingdom of Jesus Christ.
How
Baptism 'Works'
My middle son asked the question one Monday afternoon, shortly
after two Jehovah's Witnesses departed from our home.
A brief discussion of the Bible's true teaching concerning baptism, and
what is involved in acknowledging the "call" of the LORD.
Scroll
Chart
This was originally devised as a snail-mail "handout" for drawing
attention to things in The Revelation of Jesus Christ. It shows
the structure of events during the 1,260 days of the time of "the
end." Basically it follows the index to Israel's Judgment; Jerusalem's
Glory. The structure closely follows the Lord's private revelations
to the apostles in the gospel records of Matthew, Mark and Luke. It's handy
to have a print-out of this chart nearby for orientation as you read through
The Revelation study.
The Scroll Chart is one 8.5 by 11 page in length; a .GIF. Nice to
print out!
When
is the End?
This is a question which also perplexed Daniel so, even to the point of
sickness... In Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21, the Lord Jesus Christ privately
replies to some questions from his apostles. They had asked him about three
specific things:
When
is "the End"? examines the pertinent text from
all three Gospels, and compares them side-by-side. Was the Lord's discourse
only spoken in regard to the coming end of the Jewish nation in A.D. 70-73?
Or, did his answers address the end of the world age? Or both? It is interesting
to note that, when the Lord was about to ascend into the heavens to his
Father, the apostles and disciples persisted to ask him, "Lord,
wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
And to this persistent query, the Lord had replied, "It is not
for you to know the times or the season which the Father has put in His
own power."
His disciples still must await "the times or the season"
when the Father's power of the Holy Spirit is again poured out upon His
witnesses. Thus, the question When is the End? still remains unanswered
to this day.
Psalm
83
Quite often the first half of Psalm 83 is used for a literal identification
of the "last days" enemies of Israel; an identification which
we applaud.
But at the same time, the last half of Psalm 83 is ignored as a
literal description of what the LORD Himself proposes to do for Israel
when He comes to save them from complete destruction at the hand of their
Chief Adversary and his "angels of light."
This last we do not applaud. In this short study your attention
is drawn to the LORD's "strange work" and His "strange acts"
which Isaiah, the prophet, says shall be revealed from the heavens in those
"last days."
Is
there a Judgment Day?
Mockers and scoffers against The Word refuse to admit the question
for consideration.
Catastrophism
The Lord himself, and Peter, too, spoke of catastrophe and of calamity.
Dragons,
Horns and Kings
Some people do not understand, some just cannot discern! Which
end is spoken of, the first.., or the last..? Well.., Daniel
Understood.
The Heavens
Do Rule
This is a very brief study of the five verses of Second Peter 3:7-12,
wherein Peter writes of the heavenly "storehouse" which is now
under lock and key; but which contains the fire of "the Lord's day."
The study shows how the fire will be released from its fire-pit in the
days of God's vengeance upon all the ungodly and their "works"
when the Lord comes - the second time - to judge all the ungodly, but to
reward his own "saints."
Not planned as such, but the booklet does supplement the later-made studies
of the Epistles of Peter. The Heavens Do Rule also provides
some incentive for getting a better understanding of Chapter Eight and
Chapter Nine of The Revelation.
The
Hill of God
Is Mt. Zion real, or not? The controversy of Zion is addressed
by some practical considerations, which demand answers in the days ahead.
The
Judgment Seat
The ancient kings "sat in the gate" to adjudicate legal
matters.
