The Gates of New Jerusalem
48:30-35
- The suburban area surrounds the city all around before the gates.
- Facing the suburb to the north are the gates of Reuben, Judah and Levi.
- The eastern gates are named for Joseph, Benjamin and Dan.
- The city's southern gates are named for Simeon, Issachar and Zebulun.
- The gates which face the west are named for the tribe of Gad, Asher
and Naphtali.
- From the time forward -- after the sanctuary is actually built upon
the mountain -- the new Jerusalem will be called (approximately)
Yahweh shammeh, which roughly translates to, The LORD is there.
- New Jerusalem is the bride, the Lamb's wife, per Revelation
21, and per Jeremiah 31:22, "For the LORD hath created a new
thing in the earth. A woman shall compass a man." She dwells in peace
and in security with her master and lord within her midst, Psalm 46:5 in
its context.
