View of the Temple's Square
40:44; 42:14
- The temple building is located upon the eastern end of the highest
court level of the structure like a city. Steps lead up to this level (through
the low wall) to the porch of the temple.
- The site of the "door" to the north and of the "door"
to the south of the "place left" is indefinitely stated. The
location is therefore arbitrarily set at the north and south ends of the
terrace at the rear (west end) of the temple building, at the site of "the
place that was left."
- The house with its side-chambers is surrounded by a court of 20 cubits
in width, (width measured away from the temple building). This court,
or separate place, also called "the twenty," is a place between
the priests chambers on either side. The western section of this court
is directly in front of the building to the west.
- Appparently the situation of the highest court is quite impressive,
"beautiful for elevation;" for Ezekiel was caused to exclaim
in wonder at the loftiness of the "house" as he was brought through
this area of the "structure-like-a-city."
- Chambers for the use of the priests ministering to the altar are located
to the north and to the south of the temple's square.
