The South Gates; East Inner Gate
40:24-34
- The south gates are shown in relation to the Inner Court and in relation
to the main east gate house.
- Posts, "arches," windows, and all their design, are the same
as the prior described gates; and the measures are the same also.
- The width of the distance of the court between the two south gates
is 100 cubits.
- The inner gate house has eight steps in its stairs, but the
outer gate house has only seven steps in its stairs.
- The "arches" of the inner gate house face the court outside,
(which is the Inner Court), per verse 30-34. These "arches" measure
5 by 25 cubits in length. It is not directly stated that the "arches"
of the outer gate houses face the court outside, (which is the Outer Court)
but a faithful diagram proves that they do.
- Care must be taken to differentiate between the porches -- "arches"
-- between the "gates of the gate" and the front porch -- "arches"
-- of the gate house itself. The reader must realize that Ezekiel's vision
of the complex shows only a floor plan of all the structures on the mountain
site. Vertical measures are not given!
