The 7th graders from Greenwoods Charter School of Philadelphia hosted a creative Earth Day event by bringing in Day of Art and the Philadelphia Recycling office mascot Curby Bucket. Philadelphia icons were created using papers that are all recyclable which included: magazines, newspapers, cereal boxes, and mixed papers.

Students chose from images of Independence Hall, Benjamin Franklin, Liberty Bell, Pretzel, LOVE sculpture, and Philadelphia sports logos. Seven local Philadelphia charter schools arrived early in the day to make this a special event.

T.V. crews from 3, 6, and 10 were present to cover the event. Groups from each school worked all morning creating fantastic 2-D works, and over 75 students in all.

The works of art were later framed and unveiled on Earth Day and presented to the schools at the Market East Gallery.
