We also do not require articles loudly ringing the bell for 2nd Amendment rights, or for any specific political party or agenda. We believe in the 2nd Amendment, and in the rights of individuals to defend themselves and their loved ones from danger, but this publication is not a soapbox for pontification. It is for passing on useful information to like-minded members of the general public who own firearms or who would like to do so. It is our general assumption that our readers already agree with these propositions, and do not need further persuasion. Political speeches or preaching will not be considered for publication.
Articles should be in ASCII text format, 750-2,000 words in length, no HTML or special formatting. Do not use RTF encoding to embed italics or other processing codes in your text. To set off a word for emphasis, surround the word with *asterisks*. Do not use ALL CAPS for emphasis if it can be at all avoided. We do not accept images for publication at this time.
If you have a longer article, it may be acceptable as a multi-part publication. Please send a query email describing your article, along with an approximate word count, if it is over 2,000 words. Excessively long articles that have not been previously queried will not be considered for publication. The following articles are of particular interest:

HGD does not currently offer payment for articles. You get to see your name in print, and to know that it is being seen by our widespread subscriber membership. Someday, we may offer payment for submissions, but that day has not yet come.
If HGD accepts your article, you agree to assign all rights to us, permanently. Do not send us an article you do not have clear, unencumbered rights to. The burden of determination is on the person submitting the article. We cannot and will not check to make sure an article is unencumbered before we publish it. We will assume that any article submitted for consideration is ours to publish if we accept it. You will receive written confirmation if we choose to publish your article prior to the publication date, with the tentative place on our publication calendar we have chosen to put it in. We reserve the right to move an article to another date if needs of publication require.
