Trillium ovatum on Bohemia Mt. in the Western Cascades of Oregon at the end of June 1998.
Trilliums really can be rock garden plants!
Trillium
ovatum, note the open bowl-shaped flowers, which differ from Tillium grandiflorum's
more funnel-shaped flowers. |
All
the Trillium ovatum pictured on this page were growing in an east facing
in a talus slope and there were still a few patches of old snow nearby
at the end of June! |
Stepping
back from the group above. |
These pictures were all taken on one of the bus trips at the 1998 NARGS Annual meeting. |
Closer..
The yellow ovary is another difference between T. ovatum and T. grandiflorum which has a white or greenish-white ovary. |
These
flowers have a faint pink flush, but they did not appear to be old aged. |
