Pierre Risch - Very exciting, very lively, very commercial portaits of clowns, jazz musicians, and other fun. Wonderful sense of color and entertainment. He's in Saint-Remy, France.

Rebecca Alzofon - Ms. Alzofon's entire site is fun, but her magical use of a handful of Unison pastels to create both a landscape and a figure painting is stunning. Well worth a visit-- it's one of my favorite pastel sites.

Associated Pastelists on the Web - Easily the best online art gallery for pastel art. The long list of artists represented-- each with a page full of index-sized prints that are clickable for full-screen viewing-- include many well-known names in the community. At some point, I'll ask for permission to show some of their art here. For now, do spend a few hours exploring a spectcular site.

ArtShow - Another of the better pastel artist galleries, again packed with top names. Their front page is very inviting, with dozens of small pictures for inspiration. These images really show the diversity of styles utilized by pastel painters.

Plus two that aren't Pastel Artist sites exactly, but helpful nonetheless:

Yahoo "The Pastel Painters" Club - This relatively new club is one of the best places to read and post messages about pastels. The group is growing fast (a parallel group, about watercolors, now boasts over 1000 members!)

Wet Canvas - Message boards for artists of all types, working in all media. A good solid pastel section, larger and more robust than the one on Yahoo.
